In the last few years Europe has found itself facing a myriad of crises and vulnerabilities that have put its economic, political, environmental and social security, and safety at risk. Alongside these growing concerns, the continent now faces the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. Bringing together scholars, government representatives, and various participants, the conference provided a platform to share experiences from all over the world to further understand what European governments are doing to rescue and accommodate refugees, and how they can more effectively do so in the face of austerity.
