Prof. Edwin Andrews Afari is an Epidemiologist and Specialist in Public Health. He was instrumental in the establishment of an MPhil in Applied Epidemiology and Disease Control/Ghana Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Programme at the School of Public Health, College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana, Legon. He has over 30 years’ experience in public health practice and teaching. He facilitated the creation of two field sites for outreach services and applied research, and initiated a malaria research programme with an emphasis on malaria parasites sensitivity (in vivo and in vitro) to antimalarial drugs for the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research. He was a World Health Organisation, Africa Regional Office Consultant to (i) revise Applied Epidemiology Course modules in English; (ii) develop guidelines on Epidemiological Surveillance for communicable disease control at the district level; (iii) short-term consultant facilitator for six years to revise and teach the WHO regional course on Applied Epidemiology for Senior Health Personnel from English Speaking Countries in Africa.
