M. Foster “Using open and distance learning to accelerate progress towards SDG4”
Matthew Foster, Open University, UK
Abstract: This session will focus the contribution of open and distance learning to Sustainable Development Goal 4 and in particular target 4c teachers and educators. The session will draw lessons from the Open University’s experience working with partners in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa to highlight how open and distance learning could be used to support teachers and teacher educators at scale to accelerate progress across the goals. This session is timely given the first voluntary national review of the UK contribution towards the Sustainable Development Goals will be submitted to the UN on 14 June and is likely to highlight slow overall progress to date and the need to find new innovate ways of working to make greater progress by 2030.
