Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of seven exogenous latent constructs namely (1) Environmental Knowledge (ENK); (2) Environmental Concern (ENC); (3) Perceived Costs Efficiency and Business Benefits (PCE); (4) Perceived Product and Supplier Availability (PPS); (5) Organisational Incentives and Pressures (OIP); (6) Policies and Regulations (PR); and (7) perceived benefits of implementation tools and competency (PBI) on Government Green Procurement (GGP) practices.
Design/methodology/approach: The theoretical framework of this study is built based on the institutional theory, underpinned by previous researchers’ conceptual models. This study uses Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) analysis to determine a measurement model that best fits data at hand and a structural model to test the causal relationship among the constructs.
Findings: This study finds that all latent exogenous constructs in this study have a positive and significant effect on latent endogenous constructs that is GGP practices (p , 0.05).
Original/value: This study is one of the first attempts to empirically investigate the practice of GGP in Malaysia. Practical implications: At the government level, the findings of this study will assist the government in formulating strategies towards the implementation of GGP in a more systematic and effective manner. At the suppliers’ level, the findings will help suppliers to make adaptations in fulfilling the government’s requirements.
